A TUTORING SERVICE FOR YOUNG READERS AND WRITERS
I work closely and thoughtfully with children in kindergarten through second grade who are struggling with reading and writing. Working individually, I use a wide range of procedures for children to master phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, comprehension and fluency. My goal is for each child to gain independence and confidence in reading and writing and to move from being a struggling reader to one who discovers the joy and wonder of literature.
I offer weekly and biweekly tutoring sessions at my office in Brooklyn Heights.
ABOUT JENNY MILLER
I started Joyful Reading Brooklyn in 2017 as a tutoring service for struggling young readers and writers. I have over 10 years of teaching experience in kindergarten and first grades at both public and independent schools in New York City and have worked as a reading specialist in the New York City public schools. I hold a B.A from Middlebury College and an M.S. in Elementary Education from Bank Street College. I am trained as a Reading Recovery teacher and have extensive literacy training from both Bank Street College and Teachers College Columbia University.
I live in Brooklyn with my husband and two children.
